The Woods

In the Spring,
the woods are young,
new trees growing,
animals coming out,
the woods come to life.

in the Summer,
the woods have green leaves,
they are adolescent,
animals hide in the shade,
the woods are children.

in the Autumn,
the woods are colorful,
changing solors,
the floor is covered with animal tracks,
the woods are old.

In the Winter,
it is dark, damp, musty, wet,
the leaves are rotting,
animals are hibernating, Woods is dying.
The seasons have killed him.

what is school like?

School is like a prison
We can’t leave,
School is like an island
We are all trapped,
School is like a pie
It is good at first until you reach the crust,
School is like a toilet
It is full of germs,
School is like a salad
You have to put something on it to make it better,
School is like a stupid cat
It never dies,
School is like a garbage truck
It smells, it’s big and you can here it from a mile away,
School is like a baby
It always needs your attention,
School is like a shark
It just keeps chasing,
School is like going to jail
You never want to go back,
jack jack

THE FOREGINER

THE FOREGINER
A blizzard, cold winter day on Eliss Island
A dark figure come among the shadowy part of the boat
He walks around in the cold snow up to his knees
Looks among the winter as the last part of Kenya he will see
Suddenly, his thoughts take over
A Vision of his daughter and wife turns into a wind of smoke
He wonders what happen to them
Those he had left behind , fighting for their lifes
What happened
AmI the only one left of my people
As the sky goes to a rest, he sit on a bench until sun rise
The sun awakes, bringing the joy and happiness he once had
He makes a decision
Go to the docks
With tears in his eyes, he jumps
Drowning in the water

Flashy silver

FLASHY SILVER

Rides on rich people hands
Plays in the cellar
The thing on rich wifes fingers
Sparkling and flashy
Falls in the cashier Plays with nickels, dimes and quarters
Body of silver steel
silver is silver
Smells like a pencil
Tastes like wood polish
On the toilet seat
On people rims
It is sweet
It is silver

The Raven

by Edgar Allan Poe

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
`'Tis some visitor,' I muttered, `tapping at my chamber door -
Only this, and nothing more.

'Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December,
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow; - vainly I had sought to borrow
From my books surcease of sorrow - sorrow for the lost Lenore -
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels named Lenore -
Nameless here for evermore.

And the silken sad uncertain rustling of each purple curtain
Thrilled me - filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before;
So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating
`'Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door -
Some late visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door; -
This it is, and nothing more,

'Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer,
`Sir,' said I, `or Madam, truly your forgiveness I implore;
But the fact is I was napping, and so gently you came rapping,
And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door,
That I scarce was sure I heard you' - here I opened wide the door;
-Darkness there, and nothing more.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before
But the silence was unbroken, and the darkness gave no token,
And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, `Lenore!
'This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, `Lenore!
'Merely this and nothing more.

Back into the chamber turning, all my soul within me burning,
Soon again I heard a tapping somewhat louder than before.
`Surely,' said I, `surely that is something at my window lattice;
Let me see then, what thereat is, and this mystery explore-
Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore;-
'Tis the wind and nothing more!

'Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter,
In there stepped a stately raven of the saintly days of yore.
Not the least obeisance made he; not a minute stopped or stayed he;
But, with mien of lord or lady, perched above my chamber door -
Perched upon a bust of Pallas just above my chamber door -
Perched, and sat, and nothing more.

Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore,
`Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou,' I said, `art sure no craven.
Ghastly grim and ancient raven wandering from the nightly shore -
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night's Plutonian shore!
'Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.

'Much I marvelled this ungainly fowl to hear discourse so plainly,
Though its answer little meaning - little relevancy bore;
For we cannot help agreeing that no living human being
Ever yet was blessed with seeing bird above his chamber door -
Bird or beast above the sculptured bust above his chamber door,
With such name as `Nevermore.

'But the raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke only,
That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.
Nothing further then he uttered - not a feather then he fluttered -
Till I scarcely more than muttered `Other friends have flown before -
On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before.'
Then the bird said, `Nevermore.

'Startled at the stillness broken by reply so aptly spoken,
`Doubtless,' said I, `what it utters is its only stock and store,
Caught from some unhappy master whom unmerciful disaster
Followed fast and followed faster till his songs one burden bore -
Till the dirges of his hope that melancholy burden bore
Of "Never-nevermore."

'But the raven still beguiling all my sad soul into smiling,
Straight I wheeled a cushioned seat in front of bird and bust and door;
Then, upon the velvet sinking, I betook myself to linking
Fancy unto fancy, thinking what this ominous bird of yore -
What this grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt, and ominous bird of yore
Meant in croaking `Nevermore.

'This I sat engaged in guessing, but no syllable expressing
To the fowl whose fiery eyes now burned into my bosom's core;
This and more I sat divining, with my head at ease reclining
On the cushion's velvet lining that the lamp-light gloated o'er,
But whose velvet violet lining with the lamp-light gloating o'er,
She shall press, ah, nevermore!

Then, methought, the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censer
Swung by Seraphim whose foot-falls tinkled on the tufted floor.
`Wretch,' I cried, `thy God hath lent thee - by these angels he has sent thee
Respite - respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore!
Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe, and forget this lost Lenore!
'Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'

`Prophet!' said I, `thing of evil! - prophet still, if bird or devil!
-Whether tempter sent, or whether tempest tossed thee here ashore,
Desolate yet all undaunted, on this desert land enchanted -
On this home by horror haunted - tell me truly, I implore -
Is there - is there balm in Gilead? - tell me - tell me, I implore!
'Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'

`Prophet!' said I, `thing of evil! - prophet still, if bird or devil!
By that Heaven that bends above us - by that God we both adore -
Tell this soul with sorrow laden if, within the distant Aidenn,
It shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels named Lenore -
Clasp a rare and radiant maiden, whom the angels named Lenore?'
Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'

`Be that word our sign of parting, bird or fiend!' I shrieked upstarting -
`Get thee back into the tempest and the Night's Plutonian shore!
Leave no black plume as a token of that lie thy soul hath spoken!
Leave my loneliness unbroken! - quit the bust above my door!
Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door!
'Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.

'And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted - nevermore!

The Eagle In the Tophat

Proud, soaring,
on top of the world.
When I hear these things,
I think of an eagle.

Funny looking, Abe Lincoln,
put-on-your-head.
When I hear these things,
I think of a tophat.

But what if, what if,
there was an eagle
in a tophat.

Would he be funny looking
and on top of the world?
Maybe

But I would respect,
and maybe fear him,
because he's crazy.

The Foreigner

So many people all together, staring
At him, the foreigner
Different from everyone else
Not like them in any way
Trying to fit in
But it doesn't work, he's different
He's the foreigner
Standing there all alone
In a crowded place
Everyone stares, stares at him
Like he's from another world
Like he's not a human
They just stare at him
He's different
He's the foreigner.

Feelings

There are many different feelings, some we try to hide. But that right there's the problem, it's hurting us inside. There is courage, sadness, and anger, that's when we get tense. Yet there is one we use the most, and that is common sense. With out our vital conscience, we would never take a chance. To open up our minds, to keep it all balanced. We all know they are important, it's obvious to see. So go out there and do it, you just need to believe.

What Is Navy?

Navy is the color of victory,
the color all great soldiers have worn;
Navy is the color of peace
which is on our American flag;
Navy is a first place ribbon
that show the skills of a champion;
Navy is the start
where no one feel left behind;
Navy are the colors of liquids
that show themselvesto us;
Navy is new technology
It's different every day;
Navy is different
different from all other things
Navy is itself
No other color is like it.

That Girl

She stands there tough as nails yet delicate as a rose
she is so beautiful I can't help but stare
I walk up to her we start talking
but I don't hear a word she says
I'm too busy looking into her beautiful brown eyes
I lean in to kiss her she leans in too
and for that passionate moment
the world seemed to stop

Jesus Walks

As I walk along with the whispering wind the devil throws his flame to the top of the underground and tries to warm my feet,
I like a little warmth circulating throughout my body, but I have someone that guides me already so that’s sweet,
When I’ve failed and feel I need help-
Better yet when I thought about swallowing a bottle of sleeping pills and killing myself
Jesus was there.

I pick my left leg up and my foot skips-
I put it back down and my body dips,
I’ve got a new stride,
I’m running straight through this,
Then the devil won’t be able to catch me,
Like back in the early 90’s I’m Carl Lewis

Regardless of how many days I ignore him when I call he answers right back,
Gives me advice, forgives me, and even pats me on the back.
Through the valley of death
With every last breath,
I’ve walked on water and never drowned-
As long as I walk beside Jesus and keep him around,
The devil will always know Jesus walks with me

Waves

So many different kinds,
sound waves, ocean waves,
seismic waves, and hand waves.

Hello, goodbye,
the crash of the tide,
music in my ears.

Earthquakes across the globe,
crack in the world,
explode.

Everything different,
in the day, in the night,
everywhere.

So many different kinds,
friendly, angry, sad,
emotions.

Some welcome you,
some cast you out,
different interpretations,

Wait and Bleed

I've felt the hate rise up in me
Kneel down to clear the stone of leaves
I wander out were you can't see
Inside my shell, I wait and bleed

I wipe it off the title, the light is brighter this time
Everything is 3D blasphemy
My eyes are red and gold, the hair is standing straight up
this is not the way I picture me
I can't control my shakes
How the hell did I get here
Something about this, so very wrong
I laugh out loud, I wish I didn't like this
Is it a dream or a memory

Get outta my head cuz I don't need this
Why I Didn't I see this
I am a victim Manchurian Candidate
I have sinned by just
making my mind up and taking your breath away

You haven't learned a thing
I haven't changed a thing
My flesh was in my bones
the pain was always free

I've felt the hate rise up in me
kneel down to clear the stone of leaves
I wander out where you can't see
inside my shell i Wait and bleed

The Nittany Lion - by James Leyden

Every college has a legend, passed on from year to year,
To which they pledge allegiance, and always cherish dear.
But of all the honored idols, there’s but one that stands the test,
It’s the stately Nittany Lion, the symbol of our best.

Chorus:
HAIL! to the Lion, loyal and true.
HAIL! Alma Mater, with your white and blue.
PENN! STATE! forever, molder of men,
FIGHT! for her honor — FIGHT! — and victory again.

There’s Pittsburgh with its Panther,
and Penn her Red and Blue,
Dartmouth with its Indian,
and Yale her Bulldog, too.
There’s Princeton with its Tiger,
and Cornell with its Bear.
But speaking now of victory,
We’ll get the Lion’s share.

(Chorus)

Indiana has its Hoosiers,
Purdue its gold and black.
The Wildcats from Northwestern
and Spartans on attack.
Ohio State has its Buckeyes,
Up north, The Wolverines.
But the mighty Nittany Lions,
The best they’ve ever seen.

(Chorus)

When We Are Sleeping

What happens when we are sleeping?
Are there ghosts creeping,
or leprechauns leaping?

Do stuffed animals come alive?
Toy cars start to drive,
And are on their way to your bed and arrive.

Lamps get scared and turn off their light.
Do goblins appear and begin to bite?
You never know...they might?!

We all don't know what happens when we are sleeping.
It will just be a mystery to all of us, in our heads beeping.
What does happen when we are sleeping?

~Sydney Lynn

The Feel of Sky Blue

This was written by me(:

Smiles down on us everyday
Plays with the clouds.
The color of my old room
And the rolling waves of the ocean.
Runs away in the winter
Fills the air in the summer.
The color of my eyes
And the ten-foot deep pool.
Tells jokes that make me laugh.
The color of my phone
And my favorite shirt.
Slides down the rainbow
Spreads across the paper.
The color of my house.
Sky Blue is peace.
